Aguacero/Downpour 2023
Work in collaboration with Vivian Hernandez
Room Installation + Performance (Clay, water, drawing and sound installation)
Presented at Thealit Frauen.Kultur.Labor Bremen

We created a room installation with clay and sound, that functions as a cartographical artistic response. The ceramics are filled with water and with the touch of the audience or performers, a sound score is activated. During the performance we all listen together to a sound composition, activated on site, that has recordings of the different places. The need for collective listening arises as a response to the state of emergency in different territories. The diversion of rivers in Colombia, the contamination caused by extractivism in El Salvador, the flooding of rivers in Germany.

During the Listening we would like to explore the term Acuerpar (to embody). Acuerpar refers to a state of deep empathy between bodies of water and our bodies. But What is acuerpar? “Your body is the first territory you inhabit and the second territory you inhabit is the earth. Cuerpas means to put the body for the defense and fight of life” NODA LAB in cuerpos de tierra. This sonic cartography is an invitation to acuerpar the movements and rhythms of water, rivers and rain.
